The Board of Selectmen is the Chief Executive Office of the Town. The Board consists of three (3) members elected to three (3) year terms. One seat is elected each year at the Annual Town election.
The Board generally meets every other Tuesday at 6PM in the Selectmen's Chambers on the Upper Level of Town Hall, 272 Main Street, Townsend. Meetings are listed in the calendar on the website's home page. Agendas and meeting packets are also available on the calendar and on the Board of Selectmen page.
Townsend is a special community in many ways, particularly because of its commitment to maintaining a rural sense of a small New England Town. It is the mission of the Townsend Board of Selectmen to provide a wide range of high quality services to the citizens of Townsend while at the same time support a strong economic base for the Town. It is the goal of the Board of Selectmen to provide services as economically as possible so that living or doing business in the community remains affordable, while preserving something close to the current balance of reliance on residential and commercial property.
