Wheeler Road Bridge Project

On August 11, 2010, a meeting was held at the Worcester district office of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) regarding the Wheeler Road Bridge project. The following are highlights of the meeting:
* General Contractor: New England Infrastructure, Inc., of Hudson, MA
* Notice to Proceed: MassDOT issued the Notice to Proceed on June 30,
2010
* Expected start date: The week of August 30, 2010
* Target completion date: Fall 2011. This target completion date could change depending on weather conditions and the cooperation of other parties such as utility companies and materials suppliers
* Once construction commences the pedestrian access across the existing bridge will be shut off. Pedestrians will not be permitted to walk through the work zone. An announcement will be made if an alternative pedestrian access is established.
