How to Obtain a Dog License

Every year, all dog owners in the Town of Townsend must obtain a license for their dog by the last day in February. You may purchase your license at the Town Clerk's Office at the Town Hall.

Kennel licenses are also available. They may also be obtained at the Town Clerk's office. Before you can obtain a Kennel license you will need to contact the Animal Control Officer.

Kennel fees are as follows: 4 or less $25.00 10 or less $50.00 over 10 $75.00

The dog licenses or Kennel licenses are good for one calendar year only. They all expire December 31 of that year.

To obtain a license, you must present evidence of a current rabies vaccination. The fee for a dog license in Townsend is $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog, $11.00 otherwise.
