The Townsend Conservation Land Trust (TCLT), chartered under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt, volunteer organization incorporated in June 1988 to preserve the natural resources and rural character of Townsend. The TCLT promotes conservation of properties through ownership and easements and is empowered to buy, sell, or hold property for the benefit of the general public. All property held or controlled by the Trust are used exclusively for conservation, education, public recreation and scientific purposes.

The Trust currently holds properties off Pheasant Ridge Road, Clement Road, Greenville Road, West Meadow Road, Old Meetinghouse Road abutting Old Meetinghouse Park, and small parcels on Barker Hill Road and Brookline Road.
