Description of Services

The Veterans' Agent advocates for Townsend's unemployed and disabled Veterans, and assists them with Veteran's issues and the benefits available to them.  This task is accomplished through various activities including:

  • Assistance with benefits

  • Assistance with legal claims

  • Financial assistance for food, heat and medical expenses

  • Aid for educational expenses

Additional Information

Many Veterans and their families are unaware of the benefits available to them.  Benefits include financial assistance for food, heat, and medical expenses and aid for educational expenses.  Help is available to unemployed and disabled Veterans.  Legal claims are referred to the Fitchburg or Boston Veterans' Service Office.   Each case is handled with utmost discretion.  Individual names do not become public record.  Approximately 36 Veterans are helped each year in Townsend.
