TOWNSEND CURBSIDE TRASH AND RECYCLING PICKUP

RECYCLING IS MANDATORY IN TOWNSEND
You can’t throw it away….There is no such place as ‘away’

Currently, our trash is taken to South Carolina and land filled, and our recyclables are going to China to make new products.

Note: Both the Co-mingled Containers, and the Mixed Paper, are picked up the same week.

Handling of recyclable material will continue as before, sorted into two or more different containers; one or more recycling containers for all paper and corrugated material, and, one or more recycling containers for all glass, tin and aluminum, and plastics.

You may use standard 32-gallon trash barrels for your recycling, labeled as “Recycling”, or any existing recycling bins.

All recycling containers will be placed curbside, every other week, along with your solid waste. (see schedule). Ensure that all recycling containers are labeled as “Recycling”.

Note - there is a 5 bag limit (for trash) that will be picked up curbside and Recycling is Mandatory in our town. Recycle as much as you can!

* Trash day falls on a Holiday, your trash will be picked up on the following day. Each affected day will be moved one day to the following day, (example: Thanksgiving is Thursday so Thursday trash will be picked up on Friday and Friday's trash will be picked up on Saturday.) Trash collection is Tuesday through Friday, so Monday holidays do not affect the schedule.

Recycling is Mandatory….

Please recycle as much as possible. Include NO recyclables in your trash. It’s easy; it’s environmentally smart and right; it’s free to use, it’s the law and it saves you and all taxpayers money! The more you recycle, the less you pay in taxes! For information, click the links at left.

NEED A RECYCLING BIN?

You can buy a Recycling Bin for $11 at Apple Meadow Hardware store.
The more you put in the recycling bin, the more you (the town) saves.

If you are new in town, come to the Town Office and receive a free recycling bin!

The Town Hall also has free RECYCLING stickers to place on bins you already have. Shaw’s will recognize your recycling with these stickers!
