The Townsend Recycling Committee plans and implements
programs and initiatives to promote recycling, and reduce the amount of trash
generated in Townsend. The Recycling Committee is a subcommittee of the
Board of Health. The Recycling Committee provides alternative solutions to
the waste disposal problems, and assists the Board of Health with public
education concerning recycling and composting.

Number of Members and Terms:
Seven members, with terms of three years each, recommended by the Board of Health for appointment by the Board of Selectmen.

Meetings: Typically on the third Tuesday of the month at Town Hall

Our Goals:
Increase public awareness and participation in recycling
Maximize curbside recycling rate
Establish reuse and waste reduction programs
Reduce and manage Hazardous Household Waste safely
Allow all businesses and residents access to town sponsored recycling and reuse
Volunteer Opportunities:
On occasion help is needed at the recycling center on Saturdays. If you would like to be on the resource list for those who might be able to help, please email or call the Board of Health
