Cemetery & Parks Meeting
November 13, 2017

The meeting was opened at 7:30PM present were, Ray Boyes, Tubby Boucher, John Barrett, Roger Rapoza, Drew Funk, and Pam Haman.
Minutes: Minutes from the 11/11/17 and 10/25/17 meetings were reviewed and approved.
Bills: Pam clarified some of the billing discrepancies which can happen because if there is a lag between meetings and invoices actual being paid. There was also some question about the repurchase of a burial lot for Thomas Manley. John made the motion “to refund the payment if the lot and prepayment of burial to Thomas Manley. Deed to be voided. Tubby second all were in favor.
Discuss:
Tree at Hillside Cemetery. Tree may have been damaged by lightening. It was also brought up about tapping trees (maple) John King has been tapping the trees in the spring.
Common sidewalks: Article was submitted for Special Town Meeting. Roger has spoken with both Highways about help with removal of the sidewalks. He has also spoken to the Building Inspector about the approx. cost. The article can be amended on Town Meeting floor needed. Roger also has meet with the Capital Planning for their approval. Project could start in spring if approved at Special Town Meeting.
Veterans Memorial Grant. The application was discussed. 3 quotes were received for the granite monument. The department is asking for 4500 grant money with the remainder thorough donations and or in kind contributions. Grant application was approved.
The TEO has shifted responsibility having a new person be in charge of the Christmas lights on the Common. Lights will now be on the gazebo and wrapped around light poles. The annual tree lighting will be December 3 at 5pm.
Organization Chart: John would like to get opinions of other departments involved in those potential changes. He also recommended that a joint meeting of departments and submit concerns has a group instead of individually.
Superintendents Report:
The Eagle Scout project for the food court at the back of the common will be started next summer.
