Discuss

Overview of what cemetery and parks does for snow removal. The concern is the change in structure of the parking areas.  Budgeting is also an issue since fuel and vehicle repairs (if needed) are no longer covered by the snow and ice account.  Jim Smith was unsure why the snow and ice could no longer be used for these purposes.

The Commissioners felt that perhaps the town has grown to more then what the department can handle.  Jim Kreidler asked what the department could handle/help with.  Roger explained that since the department no longer has access to highway equipment and that the cemetery equipment was not able to handle the amount of plowing.  Roger felt that the department could do the town hall and police stations and that the highways take over the fire stations, library and senior center.  The Cemetery and Parks would do sidewalks.   The library and Senior Ctr are the most time consuming to maintain.  John moved to add the following “Jim Kreidler asked if it was a big deal for Highway just to do the Town Hall and Police station as well and Jim Smith said no.” minutes were amended as noted.

Mike Murphy would still be used by the Highway Department during snow storms.

Highway could get contract labor to do the plowing and the Cemetery and Parks would continue to do the sidewalks.

Betty Mae Tenney stopped by the meeting she was concerned that her Christmas basket as missing from her families lot.  The department will check out and get back to her.
