ATTN: Water Main Break

A water main break was discovered this morning on Center St. We have begun the process of repairing the main break.

Due to the location of the break, it was necessary to shut off the gate, leaving many residents without water. Residents affected should plan on not having water for the rest of the day.

Once water is restored, you may experience a period of discolored water. These conditions are temporary and do not pose any health risks. As a precaution, the Townsend Water Department may chlorinate the system when we have completed the repairs. It is advisable to run water from your outside spigot for several minutes before use on all faucets, toilets, showers, etc.
