Cemetery & Parks Meeting

The meeting opened at 7:05PM present were Tubby Boucher, John Barett, Roger Rapoza, and Pam Haman.

Minutes for September meeting were reviewed and approved.

Bills: reviewed and approved

Deeds: reviewed and signed.

Appointments:  none

Correspondence:  The department reviewed an email commenting on how impressed the sender was with the cleanness and up keep of Howard Park.  Person is looking for additional ways to be involved in up keep of parks in town.  The Commissioners also had a further discussion about making a more formal parking, signage and general up keep of the park.  Roger stated that the crew over the summer has been doing trail maintenance and cleanup in the park.

Discuss:

Flag Pole Riverside Expansion:  Flag pole has been installed. Looks quite nice.

Garage Roof; Woolfrey will start work on the garage roof and should be completed by the November Meeting.
Walkways through wall at Riverside:  Roger would like to have walkways in portions of the stone wall that connect the original section of Riverside to the new expansion.  There are already several breaks in the wall which could be made into pathways. The Commissioners liked the idea of having pathways connecting the cemetery sections.

Sidewalks Article A discussion was held about repairing/replacing the sidewalk in the town common.  There is approx 5125 sq ft of side walk.  Repairing the current sidewalk might be cheaper up front but it would be an ongoing process to continually repair side walk as needed.  Roger will look into getting estimates for the work.  Also explore if any grants are available.  The department may submit an article for the Special Town Meeting.

Superintendent Report:  Matthias has not responded to phone call regarding the tree work.  A letter will be sent and if no response the department will move on with another Tree Company.
