Cemetery & Parks Meeting
July 9, 2018

The meeting was opened at 7:22PM present were, Ray Boyes, Tubby Boucher, John Barett, Roger Rapoza and Pam Haman.
Guest: Alan Birrille
Minutes from the February 2 and April meeting reviewed and approved.
Bills were reviewed and signed.
Deeds were approved and signed.
Appointments:
Andrew Peloquin- Had an update regarding his Eagle Scout project for the pavers on the back of the common. Roger signed off on the project for the department. Andrew said he would be starting the project in about a month or so.
Correspondence:
Recycle Purchase Policy was reviewed:
Department will keep log as required and make purchases with required post consumer recycled material.
Guest:
Al Birrille attended the meeting to express concern that he felt that Riverside Cemetery had not been mowed in 2 weeks. He also felt it was not mowed on a regular basis last season. Roger stated the blades on the mower are set at 3 ½ inches to avoid burning. The department does try to be vigilant but areas may look a little ragged towards the end of the cycle. The department does fertilize to try and improve soil. Al felt that may be a professional should look at it to give department feedback. Roger stated that the problem is the soil content is mostly gravel.
Discuss:
Sidewalks on the Common: Only one bid was received for 71,400. The quote was done mid June and the department did receive request for additional information however only one quote was received which was over the amount of $25,000 approved by the town.
John suggested patching if possible on slow days. There was a general discussion about using a concrete grinder to level and smooth the sidewalks as well.
The project has been tabled for now until further conversations with Jim Kreidler.
Superintendents Report:
Roger reported that the chairs for the playground have all been repainted.
Next meeting scheduled for 8/13/18 at 7PM.
