The meeting was opened at 6:00PM present were Tubby Boucher, John Barrett, Brian Sanford, Roger Rapoza and Pam Haman, Jerrie Bozicas, Clare Kauppi, (both from FOB) Betty Mae Tenny -Band Concert and Theresa Morse BOS
The bills were approved and signed
Discuss: Bandstand
Both the FOB and the Cemetery & Parks Dept. had proposals to share and discuss regarding the restoration of the Bandstand. The following potential changes were discussed. The group worked on combining the two proposals to submit to the BOS.
A handicap ramp or lift would be needed.
The railings would need to meet building code requirements.
Remove benches and seat backs. This would give the band additional space.
Lowering the bandstand
Possibly opening the ceiling
Up grading lightening
Lattice work and columns’
Replace clapboards.
Replace top flooring
Lead Paint removal as required.
Betty Mae was concerned that removing the benches and back seats still would not give the band enough room. She was also concerned about how music would carry if ceiling left open. She reminded people that this Sunday’s (Memorial Day) band concert is not necessarily the same as the ones held during the summer.
Jerry felt that perhaps Nashoba Tech could so some of the carpentry work. She has also been in contact with other electricians and local construction firms who might donate work. She was reminded that the Town does now have grant money and project would follow under the procurement and prevailing wage laws. There was general agreement on many issues but not all issues.
Next meeting is scheduled for May 31 at 6PM with the FOB to further discuss the bandstand.
